Born in Hallowell, Maine in 1945, Sam Webb's political journey began far from the centers of power. Educated at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia and the University of Connecticut, he was deeply influenced by the American War in Vietnam and the political turbulence of the 1960s. Webb would go on to join the Communist Party USA, eventually serving as its National Chairperson from 2000 to 2014. In this candid and compelling conversation, Webb reflects on his Maine roots, his radicalization, and his decades of activism on the American left. Now living in New York, he shares insights from a lifetime spent challenging the status quo and organizing for change.
